With a background in horse racing, through the owner Goodwin Racing, it is clear that BetGoodwin has found its niche. The promotions, apart from the welcome offer, solely cater to horse racing enthusiasts and the sportsbook is organised with this in mind as well.

Having said that, though, there is a decent amount of sports markets available overall and the fact that BetGoodwin has an app is another plus. Some sports bettors might find this sufficient, but the harsh truth is that the site cannot compete with the top UK bookies.

The only payment method available is debit cards and the customer support lacks an essential FAQ section, which is usually not the case even for new betting sites. If the horse-racing focus had not scared off most potential new customers already, the aforementioned probably will probably do the trick.

About BetGoodwin

Launched back in 2021, BetGoodwin is a new UK online sportsbook but the site comes from a very familiar name. In fact, the well-established telephone betting operator Goodwin Racing is behind the site.

Founded as a retail unit in Uckfield in 1997, Goodwin Racing grew steadily until the company was widely considered to be one of the top operators in the country for telephone betting. While a lot of people still like the personal touch provided by telephone betting, the rise of the internet and the ease with which it is possible to bet online have persuaded Goodwin Racing to change tack.

A key selling point of BetGoodwin is that the company's existing telephone betting customers are able to use the same account to place wagers online at the sportsbook, and vice versa. This is the main goal of BetGoodwin, "creating a multi-channel betting service all within the same account and wallet", says the firm.

While some sports fans in the UK might be unsure about joining a new sports betting site, the fact that BetGoodwin comes from known betting brand Goodwin Racing could be reassuring. They might still have some questions about BetGoodwin before deciding whether or not to join, however, our complete review of the new UK betting site BetGoodwin has the answers.

Is BetGoodwin Safe?

BetGoodwin is owned and operated by Goodwin Racing Limited, which is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission in the UK. This means that the site is both safe and legal for UK punters to use. Furthermore, the fact that the Goodwin brand has been around for so long is crucial, as trust is everything with betting sites these days.

BetGoodwin is also registered with IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service. Punters who believe they have been wronged can escalate matters to this instance, where an independent ruling will be made. For the registered operators, i.e. BetGoodwin and others, this ruling is also legally binding.

While the BetGoodwin brand has trust overall, how does the online betting site stack up? On Trustpilot, the site has a rather low rating at 2.5 out of five stars, which is not terrible for a betting site but clearly not great either. Most of the reviews concern the quality of the sportsbook and the casino, and not so much the verification process which is often a problem for new sites.

BetGoodwin Welcome Offer

There is a welcome offer at BetGoodwin which may look decent at first glance. A Free Bet up to £25 is something we often see at the top UK bookmakers, but the problem with BetGoodwin's offer is that the free bet is based on losses during the first day. In order to get the free bet, simply making a deposit and placing a bet is not enough, the new customers also need to make losses of £50 to claim the maximum free bet (50% return).

BetGoodwin Welcome Offer

Furthermore, there must be at least three qualifying bets of £10+ and at a minimum odds of evens (2.0). The free bet can be used on any sportsbook event, which is a plus, and the stake will not be returned with potential winnings. In any case, it is clear that we are not talking about one of the best welcome offers in the business.

New customers who like to be prepared, for example signing up on a Thursday to bet at the weekend, will thus not be able to take advantage of the welcome offer. The fact that new customers also need to make losses to claim their welcome offer is never a good thing, as BetGoodwin can then be argued as promoting losses.

BetGoodwin Promotions

BetGoodwin, given its history with horse racing, has inevitably put a lot of focus on this sport with its promotions. You could argue that the site stands out in that sense, seeing as most new UK bookies have tons of football betting offers, though few for other sports. Those who are horse racing enthusiasts, therefore, might look at the promotions section and smile.

BetGoodwin Promotions

Best Odds Guaranteed is in place, ensuring you maximise your profit even if you placed an ante-post bet, but this promotion is pretty standard for the top horse racing betting sites. The rest of the promotions at BetGoodWin are different variations of a Free Bet up to £100, one of which will be triggered if your horse is beaten by a nose. Customers need to place a £10 bet to qualify, and a maximum of £100 will be refunded (depending on the odds).

The other two variations come into play if your horse is leading and falls at the last fence/hurdle, or if your horse is beaten by half a length. It should be noted that ante-post bets do not qualify for these promotions, and the same goes for multiple bets. In any case, BetGoodwin is playing to its niche with the promotions, that is for sure.

BetGoodwin Deposit

The payment methods available at BetGoodwin are pretty scarce, it must be said, as customers have to use a debit card to deposit funds. The site used to offer the e-wallets Neteller and Skrill as well, but this no longer appears to be the case. The lack of these, as well as PayPal, is far from ideal. Those who like to use the latter, for example, will have to take a look at the best PayPal betting sites instead.

Other popular methods such as Paysafecard and Trustly are also missing from the list, although these are perhaps not considered deal-breakers. Below is everything you need to know about the methods available for deposits:

Payment Method Min. Limit Max. Limit Transaction Fee Processing Time

How to Deposit at BetGoodwin

  1. Make sure you are logged in and tap on 'Deposit' in the top right corner
  2. Choose your preferred payment method
  3. Enter the amount you would like to deposit
  4. Tap on 'Deposit' to complete the process

BetGoodwin Withdrawal

Given that the payment methods are very limited, the situation is far from ideal when it comes to withdrawals. Customers have no other option but to use a debit card here as well, which means the processing time will be a letdown. Usually, it can take up to five business days to receive the winnings, even if it is faster on some occasions.

Those who want access to their money quickly, therefore, will have to check out the betting sites that offer fast withdrawals. There are plenty of options to choose between for the latter, so the withdrawal is a major con for BetGoodwin. Below is everything you need to know:

Payment Method Min. Limit Max. Limit Transaction Fee Processing Time
Visa
Visa
£10 Not specified No fee Up to 5 business days

How to Withdraw From BetGoodwin

  2. Tap on 'Withdraw' from the options that emerge
  3. Choose the payment method or keep the one already stored
  4. Enter the amount you would like to withdraw
  5. Tap on 'Withdraw' to complete the process

How to Verify an Account at BetGoodwin

As with any betting site that is regulated by the Gambling Commission, BetGoodwin has a verification process in place to confirm the identities of its customers. BetGoodwin aims to complete this verification with the information provided during the registration, but this is not always possible. Therefore, some customers may be asked to upload one or more of the following:

  • Proof of ID: A valid passport or driving licence
  • Proof of address: a utility bill in your name (no more than three months old)
  • Proof of income: A bank statement, pay slip or tax return

In case this information is needed, BetGoodwin will contact the customer in question either via email or telephone. It is important to comply with this process, as BetGoodwin has the right to suspend any account that does not do so.

BetGoodwin Sportsbook

There is a strong focus on horse racing at the BetGoodwin online sportsbook, but football fans and those who are interested in betting on other sports will find plenty to interest them as well. In total, there are around 30 different sports to bet on at BetGoodwin, and some of the more popular ones include: Horse Racing, football, snooker, american football and tennis (check out our top 5 list of tennis bookies).

Horse racing betting is likely to be the main draw, however, with BetGoodwin having put a suite of promotions for this sport as mentioned in the 'BetGoodwin Promotions' section. It comes as no surprise given that the BetGoodwin brand always has been associated with horse racing, and there are plenty of betting sites focused on football anyway, for example.

BetGoodwin Sportsbook

With many industry experts backing esports betting to become more important in the near future, BetGoodwin has ensured it has covered this department to a decent degree. Those who join BetGoodwin can bet on a range of the top esports such as CS:GO, Dota 2, King of Glory, Valorant, League of Legends, Age of Empires and more - with markets pre-game and in-play.

Along with plenty of sporting markets, people interested in betting on politics will find the next US presidential election at BetGoodwin, as well as the next prime minister of the UK. However, BetGoodwin does seem to be missing out when it comes to TV and novelty bets such as reality TV shows, Sports Personality of the Year and Eurovision.

BetGoodwin also does not have live streaming available for its customers to watch. Most new UK online sportsbooks miss out on live streaming, at least initially, so this is not too surprising. However, racing fans will be able to watch live streams of UK and Irish meetings on most top sports betting sites in the UK, so BetGoodwin will need to look into adding this in the future.

Live in-play betting is a strong area for the BetGoodwin sportsbook, but the interface is a little basic. As it runs on software provided by FSB Technologies, the limitations of the site are clear. Whereas other leading online sportsbooks have a raft of data and statistics for users to check out when betting live in-play, this offering is not as comprehensive here. People who want a clean and basic in-play sportsbook will not be too bothered, though.

Overall, it is fair to say there is work to do if BetGoodwin is to rank alongside the best betting sites in the UK. The lack of non-racing promotions is a shame and no live streaming is also a problem that could put some off from signing up.

BetGoodwin Casino

BetGoodwin's focus has always been on sports, first on horse racing and then on its online sportsbook. Recently, however, a casino section was also added to the site. As with many other sites that come from a sportsbook background, the casino is nothing spectacular and will not compete with the best online casino sites in the UK. The versatility is a nice touch, though.

BetGoodwin Casino

There are just under 600 games available on BetGoodwin, which is not terrible but certainly not up to par with the main competition. Providers include Pragramtic Play, which is responsible for the entire live casino section as well, granted there are only nine options in that section. The casino has an okay design, with easy navigation and a search function as well.

Overall, however, the casino on BetGoodwin is clearly an addition to cater to a larger audience. And by that we do not mean casino enthusiasts, but rather sports bettors who like to dabble in roulette or slots every now and then. Of course, BetGoodwin could always improve the section and it is thus one to monitor for the future.

BetGoodwin Mobile App

Potential new customers will be happy to find out that BetGoodwin does indeed offer an app, available in the App Store as well as the Google Play Store. It has just over 1,000 downloads on the latter, at the time of writing, while it has amassed a rating of 3.5 out of five stars among iOS users. A decent start for the app, in other words.

BetGoodwin App

The navigation is pretty much identical to the mobile website, which is also fast and easy to easy. However, the convenience of an app - with many good ones on the market - should not be understated. It can take a lot longer to log in via a browser, as opposed to an app, which in the world of sports betting could matter a lot if you spot an in-play betting opportunity.

In order to download the app, simply head over to your app store and search for 'BetGoodwin'. You will then be able to find the app, and you only need to hit install to complete the process. Certainly, the fact that BetGoodwin has an app - which is not always the case for new betting sites - is a big plus.

BetGoodwin Responsible Gambling

Responsible gambling has become increasingly important for betting sites in the last few years. These sites constantly battle it out for new customers, offering enticing welcome offers and promotions, and this has inevitably increased the risk of gambling addiction. Some tools are needed, therefore, and some of those at BetGoodwin include:

  • Deposit limits (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Time-outs
  • Self-exclusion
  • Reality checks

BetGoodwin has a page that is dedicated to responsible gambling and it includes a lot of useful information, such as a direct link to Gamcare's self-assessment test. Customers are recommended to start with deposit limits, as they can often be enough to prevent bettors from spending more money than they initially intended. Overall, BetGoodwin passes the test for responsible gambling.

BetGoodwin Customer Support

Many new UK online sportsbooks find it hard to meet the mark when it comes to customer support options and this is true for BetGoodwin, which has a fairly limited offering here. Customers are advised to either email support@betgoodwin.co.uk or use the live chat option if they have a problem with their account that needs to be resolved quickly.

We tested the live chat service out late on a Friday afternoon during our research for this complete review of BetGoodwin. It took a couple of minutes to receive a response, which is decent indeed, but it actually felt as though the responses were automatically generated.

This seemed unusual but the responses were adequate. Customers with a more complicated question that they require help with might find it annoying if they are unable to get through to speak to an actual person.

However, and this is a huge drawback, BetGoodwin does not have a FAQ. A solid frequently asked questions section is a must when customer support is lacking, so people who sign up for an account here might be frustrated by how barren the site's help centre is. There is some useful information in the terms and conditions, but these are very difficult to browse through.
